My Heart is Yours (Passion, featuring Kristian Stanfill)
I give You my life
I give You my trust
You are my God
You are enough
My heart is Yours
My heart is Yours
Take it all
Take it all
My life in Your hands
I lay down my life
And take up my cross
For You are my God
Whatever the cost
For You, Jesus
All to Jesus I surrender
All to You I freely give
I will ever love and trust You
In Your presence I will live
I have been borderline obsessed with this song since I heard Hillsong United sing it at Passion 2014. I finally decided to make it my 2015 theme song to match up with my One Word 365 – fight. More about that tomorrow.
Emphasis added to the lyrics below. These are the phrases that speak most to me lately.
In Your justice and Your mercy
Heaven walked the broken road
Here to fight this sinner’s battle
Here to make my fall Your own
Turn my eyes to see Your face
As all my fears surrendered
Hold my heart within this grace
Where burden turns to wonder
I will fight to follow
I will fight for love
To throw my life forever
Into the triumph of the Son
Let Your love be my companion
In the war against my pride
Long to break all vain obsession
Till You’re all that I desire
And I know Your love has won it all
You took the fall
To embrace my sorrows
I know You took the fight
You came and died but the grave was borrowed
I know You stood again
So I can stand with a life to follow
In the light of Your Name
This song from Hillsong United seemed to be everywhere in 2014 … and that’s a good thing as far as I was concerned. I had decided on New Year’s Day that it would be my theme song for the year. A few weeks later, I was overwhelmed by God’s presence when Hillsong United led 24,000 students in the song at Passion 2014. As I’m working on choosing my theme song for this year and praying for the students who today will be wrapping up Passion 2015, I decided it would be my first song for Sunday of the year … and of the (yet another) reboot of my blog.
This is the song I heard quite a bit about while at Passion 2013, but never actually saw live. Here it is as the second song in our celebration of the release of the CD, Let the Future Begin:
The Passion 2013 CD, Let the Future Begin, releases in a couple of weeks. I’ll be sharing some of the songs from the event in the “Song for Sunday” series over the next few Sundays.
Here’s a powerful song from Matt Redman to start off the series:
Reasons why I shouldn’t have been in Fairfax, Virginia on February 13?
Snow. Traffic. Gas money. Traffic. Late night in the middle of the week. Traffic.
But, there was one good reason to be there …
The lights turned blue. People started sitting down – perhaps tired from standing through the high-energy music that started the Mumford and Sons show at the Patriot Center in Fairfax on Wednesday night or maybe sensing what was coming next was different.
I lied. I thought about it and realized that there was no way I would have a post ready for this Sunday since I wasn’t supposed to get back from Atlanta until rather late on Saturday.
So I found this. One last video memory from Passion 2012 … and it’s one that I’m quite sure was a highlight for all who saw it.
It’s almost a new year. Tomorrow, I will be leaving bright and early in the morning to head to Atlanta and Passion 2013. This time, I’m taking a college student from our church along. I can’t wait to see what God has in store for us both.
Here’s the final “Song for Sunday” in my special retrospective through the Passion conferences at which I have volunteered. It’s David Crowder Bank onstage together for the last time.
Just a few days before Christmas. Here’s a beautiful reminder of who God is in this video featuring images from Passion 2012 set to “Who You Are” by Kristian Stanfill
